Police launch search for missing man, 59, from Bannockburn

Police are appealing for information to trace a Bannockburn man who has been missing from his home since more than two weeks ago.

Officers are looking the help of the public to trace 59-year-old Paul Cairney.

It's believed that he may be camping in the Highlands and Islands.

He was last seen outside his home in The Brae, in the town on Wednesday, July 15, and has now been reported missing as concerns for his whereabouts are increasing.

He is described as 5 feet 7 inches, with short greying hair and wears glasses. It is not known what he is currently wearing but it's likely to be outdoor clothing and he may have a rucksack and camping gear, including a tent.

Police Constable Graeme Boyle, said: “Paul is a keen walker and camper and may have travelled some distance, including across the Highlands and Islands, to pursue his hobby of visiting and photographing bothies.

“If anyone has seen Paul we urge them to get in touch with us. Likewise, if Paul sees this appeal we ask him to contact us to let officers know that he is safe and well."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1980 of Thursday, July 30.
