A resident at a hostel for vulnerable people in west London has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman, believed to be member of staff, police said.

Michael Meanza, 47, who has schizophrenia, was arrested by officers in Ealing on Monday afternoon after Scotland Yard issued an appeal to find him.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was discovered injured at the hostel in Acton shortly after 6.30am. It is thought she worked at the hostel, which is understood to be a supported living service for vulnerable people.

London ambulance service attended the incident and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Scotland Yard said: “Michael Meanza was arrested on Monday 27 July in the Ealing area. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.”
