Police issue image as man they want to speak to following alleged assault on 67-year-old dog walker in Northumberland

Police have released an image of a man they would like to trace following a report of assault in Northumberland.

Officers from Northumbria Police are investigating reports that, while 67-year-old man was walking his dog in Valley Park, Cramlington, another man he did not know was verbally abusive before punching and kicking him. The incident was first reported at about 8pm on June 2, last year.

The victim attended hospital where he was treated for facial injuries before being discharged. Subsequently, an investigation was launched to locate the person responsible.

As part of their enquiries, the Force have now identified a man who they would like to speak to. He was seen in the Valley Park area at the time and officers believe he could assist the investigation.

They have released an image and urge person in the image or anyone who recognises them to come forward to assist with their investigation.

A spokesperson from Northumbria Police said: "We are aware this was some months ago, however several lines of enquiry have been finalised and we are now appealing to the public for help.

"Although not the clearest of pictures, we would ask the person in the image or anyone who recognises them to come forward."

Please contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting crime number 064574L/22.
