Police investigation launched after damage to toilets following Bristol City v Cardiff City

Police are appealing for information after the toilets at Bristol City's Ashton Gate stadium were trashed following the Severnside derby against Cardiff City last weekend.

The facilities in the Atyeo Stand were damaged by away supporters, which police labelled "significant".

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "We’re appealing for information following criminal damage caused to toilets at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol following a football match.

"Significant damage was caused to the toilets in the Atyeo Stand following the match between Bristol City and Cardiff City on Saturday (January 22).

"If anyone saw the damage being caused, or has information on who was responsible, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222018809."

Cardiff have already offered to foot the repair bill.

The Bluebirds said at the time that they were extremely disappointed by the actions of a minority at Ashton Gate and that they were assisting Bristol and the police in their enquiries and hoped that the perpetrators would be held accountable for their actions.

The Robins won the match 3-2.
