The probe was launched after the victim, aged in his late teens, was stabbed on Herbert Street in Edgeley on September 21.

Officers want to arrest the 19-year-old in connection with the attack, a spokesperson for GMP said in a statement.
Anyone who knows where Abdata is is being urged to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

If anyone has a live sighting of Abdata, 999 should be called, police said.
After the attack, which happened in broad daylight at around 11.15am, neighbours spoke of their shock at what had happened.
One woman, who lives on the road, told the Manchester Evening News she had been told about an incident outside, and as she rushed out she could see the teenager in pain on the ground.

"It's awful, absolutely awful," she said.
"To have it right on your doorstep - right there - it's heart-breaking."
Another neighbour said: "I had just come back from taking my dog to the vet.
"I heard a helicopter, looked out of the window and saw the tape.
"I have a little boy myself, it is shocking.”
A police cordon was in place on Herbert Street after the attack, as well as on nearby Dale Street.
An air ambulance landed on Alexandra Park, but the victim was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
Information should be passed immediately to police on 0161 856 9616 with live sightings of Abdata being dialled-in to 999 quoting incident 1178 of 21/09/2021.
