Police investigating after racist tweet aimed at Nottingham Forest's Lewis Grabban

Police are investigating after reports of a racist tweet aimed at a Nottingham Forest player.

The tweet, which has now been deleted, was allegedly aimed at Nottingham Forest's Lewis Grabban.

PC Simon Travell, the dedicated football officer for Nottingham Forest and Notts County, said he will be working with West Yorkshire Police to assist them with their enquiries.

He said: "I’ve been made aware of a Racist Tweet mentioning Lewis Grabban. I will be liaising with West Yorkshire Police to assist them where possible in their enquiries. Thank you once again."

Earlier this year members of the Nottingham Forest dressing room took part in a social media boycott, in a bid to draw attention to the rise in racist abuse online.

At the time, Forest's top scorer tweeted: "We are making a stand against racist abuse.

"We recognise that our platforms come with responsibility, and so we are using our voice to stand against racist abuse.

"Together, we are calling on social media platforms and footballing bodies to do more."
