Police are investigating a report that two masked men "attacked a car with a baseball bat" before dragging the passengers out of the vehicle and stealing it.
The reported hijacking took place last night at around 10.30pm on Brownlow Road, Craigavon and the Volkswagen Passat was later found burnt out at the side of a road.
It was claimed that two men in balaclavas approached the vehicle before smashing the windscreen and driver's side window with a baseball bat.
A passenger was then dragged from the car before a substance, believed to be petrol, was thrown inside.
The car was then found a short time later on Tullygally Road.
Detective Sergeant Dave Stewart said: “A report was made shortly after 10.30pm that the driver and passenger in a Volkswagen Passat were travelling along Brownlow Road, when two men wearing balaclavas attacked the car.
“One male smashed the windscreen of the vehicle with a bat, and then smashed the driver’s side window.
“The passenger was dragged from the car and a substance that is believed to be petrol was then thrown inside.
“The car was found burnt out a short time later on the Tullygally Road.
