Police investigate after body of man is discovered at Strathclyde Park

A man’s body has been found at Strathclyde Park sparking a police investigation.

Officers raced to the scene at around 10.50am this morning after the alarm was raised for a persons safety.

It comes after some personal items had been found on a small beach in the Motherwell park.

Helicopters and search parties scanned the area before making the grim find in the water a short time later.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 10.50am this morning, Thursday, May 7, 2020, police were called to Strathclyde Park following concern for the welfare of a man who’s personal items had been found on a small beach near the car park.

“Emergency services, including the police helicopter and the dog unit, attended and a short time later, a man’s body was recovered from the water.

“Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to identify the deceased.”
