Police interceptor patrol stops three suspects in Belfast

Three people were arrested on suspicion of theft and their vehicle seized after a Police ANPR interceptor patrol stopped them in Belfast.

More than £1,000 worth of items believed to have been taken from retail premises in Belfast and Lisburn were retrieved.

Northern Ireland Road Police swooped following surveillance of a car allegedly being used to transport suspect shoplifters around the Lisburn shopping district over the last day.

Northern Ireland Road Police said: "ANPR Interceptor Team stopped this vehicle in the Belfast area this afternoon after it was reported as being involved in thefts from retail premises in the Police Lisburn & Castlereagh area yesterday.


"A search of the vehicle was carried out and a number of items were located with a value of over £1,000 relating to separate undiscovered theft incidents today also in the Lisburn area.

"three persons were arrested on suspicion of theft and are currently assisting Police with their enquiries.

"The vehicle was also seized"
