Police hunt man suspected of punching wheelchair user in Perth

Police are looking for a man said to have punched another man in a wheelchair in Perth.

The suspect is believed to have struck the man on the face in Florence Place at around 8pm on Wednesday, June 17.

The victim was also subjected to abuse about his disability.

Officers are said to be following “a positive line of enquiry” already but they are still appealing for any potential witnesses to the alleged attack to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man in an electric wheelchair was verbally abused with a derogatory comment about his disability and was then struck in the face by one of two men who had approached him, suffering a facial injury as a result.

“Officers would like to trace a man described as about 5ft10-6ft, in his mid-40s and with short blonde hair.

“We are following a positive line of enquiry but would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed all or part of this incident, or who has any other relevant information.

“If you can assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any officer. Also, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Our reference is incident 3955 of June 17.”
