Police hunt man after serious assault in east London leaves victim with 'life-changing' injuries

Officers want to speak to Christopher Richards - (Scotland Yard)

The Metropolitan Police are hunting a man following a serious assault in east London last weekend.

Detectives have launched an investigation into reports of a fight between two men on Lower Clapton Road, Hackney just before 1am on Saturday, June 28.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a 32-year-old man before taking him to hospital.

He remains in hospital with serious injuries that are believed to be “life-changing”.

After making enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage, Scotland Yard are keen to speak to Christopher Richards, 32, in relation to the incident.

Richards, of South Ockendon in Thurrock, Essex, is known to have links to the Hackney area. He is of a medium, broad build and has brown hair.

The Met said in a statemennt: “Anyone who has information on Richards and his whereabouts, or anyone with further information that could help the investigation, is urged to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 409/28JUN25.”
