Police guard old furniture shop after report made

Police are guarding an old furniture shop after a cannabis farm was found inside.

Officers from Merseyside Police attended the former The Island Bed Company on Derby Road, Bootle, at 10.45am on Friday, June 9. Once officers made entry into the former shop they found a "large quantity" of cannabis crops inside.

Police have confirmed an investigation is underway and a cordon is currently in place at the building. Earlier today there were three police cars and a number of officers in the area.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that Merseyside Police are currently at a property in Bootle after reports of a suspected cannabis farm. Just after 10.45am today (Friday 9 June) officer’s attended a property on Derby Road Bootle, where they located a large quantity of cannabis crops inside.

"An investigation is underway and a scene is currently in place on Derby Road whilst police continue their enquiries. If you have any information on this incident, please contact @MerPolCC quoting reference: 23000498574.

"Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: Give information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)."
