A body has been found during a police search for a missing Wishaw man.
Police Scotland confirmed the tragic discovery was made around 5.20pm on Friday, July 8, on Grampian Road, Wishaw.
Formal identification has yet to take place but cops have informed the family of James McDonald, 40, who was reported missing from the Netherton area last week.
He was last seen around 1.45pm on Thursday afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20pm on Friday, 8 July, 2022 the body of a man was discovered in Grampian Road, Wishaw.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of James McDonald, 40, who has been missing since Thursday, July 7 has been made aware.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
Bereft loved ones hailed James as "one of the nicest people you would ever meet" who would be "sorely missed".
One wrote: "Fly high, Big Guy. You will be sorely missed, Jamesy."
Another commented: "Honestly tragic, one of the nicest people you would ever meet."
A third posted: "So sad, a lovely laddie thinking of his sister and family."
Social media was also flooded with tributes to James.
Caroline Stevenson posted: “So sad, another gentleman taken to soon. Sleep tight James, God bless. Thinking of his family at this sad time.”
Lynn McCann said: “Thinking of all his friends and family at this terrible time. RIP James.”
And Joseph Clinton wrote: “Rest in peace big cuz GBNF.”
