Police dismiss claims of attempted abduction in Rochdale

Police have dismissed claims of an attempting kidnapping in Littleborough.

Posts circulating on social media claimed a woman was grabbed by three men on Canal Street, close to the railway arches, before she was dragged her into a car.

It was also claimed the woman was 'pinned against a wall' by the vehicle as she tried to escape.

GMP confirmed officers were aware of the incident, but that the information shared on social media was innacurate.

Rochdale east inspector Rob MacGregor said officers were called to the street at around 9.20am on Monday.
