Police investigating an alleged assault at Warner's Bay on New Year's Day have released a statement saying they have determined the assault did not happen.
Lake Macquarie Police had been conducting inquiries into the alleged incident, in which officers were told a man was approached by a group, pushed to the ground and assaulted at Feighan Oval.
Police were also told an unknown woman walking her dog heard the man and provided assistance before his friend arrived. Officers then took the man to Belmont Hospital.

"Police would like to reassure the public that there is no ongoing danger in relation to this alleged incident."
