Police descend on south Bristol road after fire breaks out at property

A major emergency service presence was spotted in south Bristol after a fire broke out at a property today (May 14).

Police closed off sections of Coronation Road in Southville after they were called just before 5pm by Avon Fire and Rescue Service to help as they tackled a blaze at a property. Police put road closures in place at the junctions with Alpha Road, Dean Lane and St Johns Lane.

No injuries were reported but the residents were unable to return to the property. A police cordon remains in place and a fire and crime scene investigation will take place tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "Thankfully no injuries are reported, but residents of the property are unable to return due to suspected structural damage. Alternative accommodation is being found. Fire are yet to complete their examination to establish how the fire started.

"A police cordon is in place pending fire and crime scene investigation tomorrow. If you have any information which could help the investigation please call 101 and give the reference 5222114328."
