Police have erected a cordon around a shop in East Kilbride following reports of a man found injured outside.

Officers are currently on the scene which has been taped off while initial investigations are carried out.

Police say enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

Responding to reports online, the female store owner posted on an East Kilbride Facebook community page: "I’m the store owner and my staff are all ok which is the main thing, a bit shaken there has been an incident outside the shop and unfortunately due to this we have to keep shop closed.

"We have also had to pause online delivery as our drivers can’t get in and out. Sorry for the inconvenience that idiots have caused."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40pm on Friday, March 25, police were called to the Melbourne Avenue area of East Kilbride, following a report of a man found injured. He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.”
