A concerned resident in the area has captured video of the incident unfolding.
Several police vehicles and an ambulance are visible within the video and police cordons can be seen in place to block access along Wheatfield Road.
One concerned resident said, “I literally have no idea what has happened. I came back from Sainsburys round the corner and saw the lights but I’m blind as they come so I couldn’t tell, I thought it was roadworks or something because we weren’t aware!”
And another anonymous resident had said that their partner had struggled to get a parking spot after work due to an ongoing incident.
They said: “We live on the street and my partner just tried to get parked after work and isn’t allowed on the street.”
A Facebook user commenting on the social media platform has said that they passed the incident and that it had looked “serious” with medics on site administering treatment. They added that the road had also been taped off.
It is understood that the road has remained closed for well over an hour as both Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service attend to the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Wheatfield Road in Edinburgh at around 4.50pm on Monday, 15 November, 2021 following a crash involving a pedestrian and a lorry.
““Emergency services attended and one man was taken to hospital. Enquiries remain ongoing."
