Police car crashes and overturns 'after speeding through red light on way to emergency'

A police car has been badly mangled after it was flipped onto its roof in a serious crash.

The emergency service vehicle smashed into another car while it was driving through a red light in Castlemilk, Glasgow, a witness said.

A man in the other car had to be cut free, Glasgow Live reported.

It is thought his young male passenger was not injured in the collision.

Three officers were in the police car when it was overturned.

It is not known if they were hurt.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers are in attendance after a crash with a police car and anther car, which happened at 5.40pm.

"Diversions are in place."

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that two fire engines have been sent to the incident.

Four ambulances are on the scene.
