Police car chase in Glasgow's Pollok Park as helicopter deployed over south side

Police were involved in a car chase in Pollok Park which saw one of the force's helicopters deployed over Glasgow's south side.

The Police Scotland Air Unit confirmed the incident, understood to have taken place around 7.15pm last night (Saturday).

An image of the car in question on was shared by the force on Twitter, as they advised they were on hand to assist Police Scotland's road police.

The car and driver were eventually located in the park following the pursuit.

The Tweet, published shortly after midnight this morning, read: "assisted @polscotrpu @polscotcontrol at Pollok Park Glasgow locating vehicle and driver following a vehicle pursuit."

Police have since confirmed a man has been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Police officers pursued a vehicle on the M74 motorway after it had been observed speeding.

"Officers pursued the car into Pollok Park where the 21-year-old driver was traced and arrested for various driving offences.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
