Police called to Wythenshawe Hospital after 'threat by phone'

Police were called to Wythenshawe Hospital after a 'threat by phone' was made this evening.

GMP confirmed that they attended at the scene at around 10pm on Friday (January 10).

A police spokesperson said: "We were called to a threat by phone.

"There is no threat to the wider community.

"Officers are there at the moment trying to see if there are any further issues. We do not believe there to be, though."

A number of eyewitnesses say there was a 'large security' presence outside the hospital.

One person, who was in the hospital at the time of the incident, said she saw 'police restrain a man' with a number of security guards and police officers at the scene.

She said the incident 'seemed to have calm down' later in the evening.
