Police called to shut down party at disused industrial unit in Gorton

Police were called to shut down a huge party taking place at an industrial unit in Gorton.

There were believed to be more than 100 people inside the building on William Street, in Belle Vue, on Bank Holiday Monday.

The revellers were believed to be drinking alcohol, playing loud music and leaving laughing gas canisters littered on the floor.

Police were called to the unit at around 7.20pm on Monday, May 25.

Officers spoke with a number of people at the premises and they left the building.

There were no reports of any arrests.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after 7.20pm on Monday, May 25, 2020, police were called to reports of a party at a disused premises on William Street in Manchester.

"Officers attended and engaged with a number of people at the premises.

"People dispersed at the request of officers in line with Coronavirus legislation."
