Police called to Lidl in Kingswood after man 'films customers queuing'

Police attended a Kingswood supermarket after reports of a man filming customers.

Officers were called to the Lidl on Halls Road at about 3.40pm yesterday (June 28).

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "A man was reportedly filming customers and refusing to leave when requested.

"Officers attended and spoke with the man who subsequently vacated the area."

A witness said people were queuing outside the store due to social distancing restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, when the man reportedly started filming them.

He told Bristol Live: "It was winding people up big time. Security came out and there was a stand-off."

The witness said the people in the queue had been keeping two metres apart from each other.

He saw three or four people become involved in a confrontation with the man filming, he says.

He added: "People were shouting ‘put your camera away’ and ‘I don’t want to be in your video.'

"[The man] was arguing back. He claimed it was for a Covid documentary or for personal use, depending on who confronted him."

Police did not find any offences to have taken place.
