Police ask parents to collect children throwing bricks at them before they're arrested

Police have warned they will arrest children throwing bricks at them unless their parents collect them immediately.

Officers in St Helens have been subjected to abuse and members of the public have been intimidated by a group of children in Victoria park tonight (April 7).

Parents have been warned in a very polite but firm note from police that unless they remove their children immediately, police will arrest them.

Armed police descend on street where entire park reportedly cordoned off

The children have also been seen stealing bikes and blocking roads.

Police in St Helens have taken to social media at 9pm on Sunday to appeal directly to parents but the perfectly polite bobbies made sure to mind their manners and thank the adults in advance.

In a message on the St Helens Police Facebook Page the force wrote: "A Request to parents/guardians of St Helens

"If you suspect your child/children may be in or around Victoria Park in St Helens. Please can you collect them immediately."

My mum hid dead babies in a bin and a bag for more than 20 years

The note added: "Stealing pedal cycles, intimidating members of the public, throwing bricks at police vehicles/officers and blocking the public road so the public are unable to pass safely will get your child arrested.

"You have been warned... thank you!"
