Police arrest man after Phillip fires

A man is in police custody after several fires were discovered in Woden on Tuesday morning.

ACT Policing said it "apprehended" a 32-year-old man at 12pm and that he was assisting police with their investigation.

Firefighters extinguished a fire at a hotel in Phillip about 5.15am. No one was injured and the fire was deemed suspicious.

A second fire was extinguished at the Woden Bus Interchange about five minutes later.

Another five small fires were discovered at locations outside Woden's shopping centre between 5.25am and 6.05am.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage of suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fires is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
