Homeowners are being woken by police in one area of Merseyside to be given an important warning.
Officers were out on the streets of Huyton, last night, on the St Johns estate to check that parked cars were locked.
They then knocked on seven doors and woke some residents to tell them that their cars had not been locked properly.
Police tweeted: "Door handle checks tonight seven vehicles that were unlocked. No apology for waking people to advise.
"Seven potential crimes prevented.
"Take 30 seconds to check vehicle and home are locked up before you go to bed. We cannot do this alone."
The activity formed part of Operation Castle, an initiative to target the problem of burglary on Merseyside.
Operation Castle has resulted in a 35% reduction in burglary on Merseyside since it was launched in March 2018.
Offenders have been jailed for over 300 years as part of the operation.
