Police appeal for information following Rutherglen murder bid

Police are appealing for information following the attempted murder of a man in Rutherglen yesterday afternoon.

Police were called on Sunday around 3pm to Greenhill Road and found a 40-year-old man seriously injured, following an assault.

Emergency services were called and the victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical but stable. Police are treating the incident as an attempted murder.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area in an attempt to obtain additional information while door-to-door enquiries are also being carried out.

Detective Sergeant Vicky Murray told Lanarkshire Live: “This incident happened in the middle of the afternoon and I’m sure people will have heard or seen something.

"I am appealing to the local community to get in touch with us with any information they have, no matter how insignificant it might seem, please pass it on.

“We do not know the motive for this attack and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsible for this crime.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1944 of 12 June 2022. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give information anonymously.
