Police appeal after Rutherglen assault leaves man with serious facial injuries

Police are appealing for information after a man was left with "significant facial injuries" following an attack in Rutherglen.

The 36-year-old man was assaulted by another man on Farmeloan Road near to the M74 underpass around 9pm on Saturday, February 20.

The man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for a serious facial injury.

Officers are working to identify a man who is described as being white, with a tall slim build and wearing a pink coloured t-shirt.

Detective Constable Steven Totten, of Cambuslang Police Station, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack which has left the man with a significant facial injury.

"We are still trying to establish a motive for the attack and so would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen on Saturday evening around 9pm.

"Officers are checking CCTV at the moment and carrying out door to door enquiries.

"If you were in the area, or maybe driving by and have dash-cam footage, then please contact officers at Cambuslang CID on 101 quoting incident number 4109 of the 20 February or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
