"Pokémon TCG" is not yet done with the much-loved Kanto-based crime syndicate as another Team Rocket-themed special release is reportedly coming soon to deliver a new collectible for fans.
Team Rocket has made significant appearances over the years, including with the dedicated expansion, "Destined Rivals," followed by their appearance in the "Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes" expansion.
'Pokémon TCG': New Team Rocket-Themed Special Release Is Coming
According to PokeBeach, a Team Rocket Special Gift Box is set to release in China on July 16 as part of the upcoming Chinese card set "Chasing Glory Together." The product is confirmed on Pokémon China's official website, and it is set to deliver special items to look forward to.
The Team Rocket Special Gift Box comes packaged in a Team Rocket-themed briefcase, similar in design to previous attache releases. Inside, buyers will find a Team Rocket Mewtwo ex promo card and six booster packs from the "Chasing Glory Together" expansion.
The set draws from the US-released "Journey Together" and "Destined Rivals" expansions from the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet era, which makes the Team Rocket theme a natural fit given that "Destined Rivals" is already built around the villainous organization.
What sets this release apart from past briefcases is the included accessories as the gift box also comes with a Team Rocket-themed deck box, playmat, playmat storage sleeve, and 64 card sleeves. This release gives buyers a full suite of matching gear for playing the game in proper Team Rocket fashion.
New Team Rocket Special Release Comes With a Catch
According to ComicBook Gaming, the Team Rocket Special Gift Box is a limited release sold exclusively through Pokémon Center China, and the cards inside are from the Chinese regional card set rather than any globally available expansion.
That means international collectors looking to get their hands on one will need to either find a reseller, a proxy buyer, or an import service, none of which come at face value.
The Chinese retail price for the special release is equivalent to roughly $114. For comparison, Japan's 2025 Glory of Team Rocket Attache Case, another regional limited release, has since been listed on resale platforms for over $400.
Given the broader and more impressive contents of this new Chinese release, secondary market prices could end up even higher once it sells out.
What to Expect From New Team Rocket Release
The "Chasing Glory Together" set also includes a few exclusive cards not found anywhere else, with a China-exclusive Brock card cited alongside the Team Rocket product announcement. The briefcase itself has the same compartmented design seen in previous attache releases, built for storing and organizing card collections in a display-worthy format.
The 2025 Japan-exclusive Team Rocket Attache Case was a briefcase with booster packs but no accessories, making the Chinese release the more complete package of the two. Japan's version included packs and a promo card but no playmat, sleeves, or deck box.
This one covers all of those bases, which is part of why it stands out even by the high bar Team Rocket products have already set in recent years.
It is also worth noting that an "Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?" trademark was recently filed, and this product may or may not be connected to whatever that registration is pointing toward.
