Pokemon Sword and Shield's latest event brings back every Giantamax creature

Turn Charizard Gigantamax (Picture: Pokémon)

If you want a Gigantamax version of your favourite Pokémon then this new event in Sword and Shield is one you do not want to miss.

As the Gigantamax Meowth event ends, another begins. Starting June 2, Game Freak is bringing back every Pokémon given the Gigantamax treatment for a limited time.

This means you have another chance to catch one, or two, or three if you missed them the first time around.

The event will be running until June 29 and during this time you'll be able to more frequently encounter Gigantamax variants of Pokémon in Max Raid Battles.

To challenge these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you’ll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet.

Then, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den in the Wild Area, just interact with it to begin the fight.

Usually, there’ll be an extremely small possibility a Gigantamax Pokémon will appear instead of a Dynamax Pokémon, but during this event, certain Gigantamax Pokémon are more likely to appear.

There will be some Pokémon only available in each version of the game, so Sword and Shield will have different G-Pokémon.

During the event, you'll find Gigantamax versions of these in Pokémon Sword:

  • Gengar
  • Duraludon
  • Corviknight
  • Appletun
  • Kingler
  • Lapras
  • Garbodor
  • Toxtricity (Amped)
  • Centiskorch
  • Grimmsnarl
  • Alcremie

During the event, you'll find Gigantamax version of these in Pokémon Shield:

  • Butterfree
  • Charizard
  • Machamp
  • Orbeetle
  • Drednaw
  • Coalossal
  • Flapple
  • Sandaconda
  • Toxtricity (Low-key form)
  • Hatterene
  • Copperajah

There will be some news regarding the first wave of DLC for Sword and Shield released soon.

The expansion, called The Isle of Armour, is supposed to be released this month.
