"Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" players now have a rare shot at catching two of the game's hardest-to-find Pokémon, complete with special Marks and shiny hunting potential.
The catch is that this opportunity isn't available to everyone, and it comes with a limited-time availability.
'Pokémon Scarlet and Violet': Two Rare Pokémon Can be Easily Caught
According to GameRant's report, the ongoing event focuses on White Stripe Basculin and Feebas, both located in the Kitakami region. Thanks to this event, players can now get Basculegion in "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" far more easily than usual, along with a real shot at landing a shiny version, a Marked version, or both.
The same opportunity applies to Milotic through its Feebas evolution line.
Normally, both Feebas and White Stripe Basculin are notoriously difficult to find as Mass Outbreaks, so difficult that some players report changing the system date on their Switch or Switch 2 repeatedly without ever triggering one naturally.
White Stripe Basculin is especially restrictive outside of events, since it only spawns in one specific lake-like location near the Timeless Woods.
Because of that scarcity, most players who already own a shiny or Marked Basculegion caught theirs in "Pokémon Legends: Arceus" instead or got exceptionally lucky hunting in Kitakami.
There's a Catch to Get Them in 'Pokémon Scarlet and Violet'
The main catch is that both Pokémon require ownership of the "Teal Mask" DLC, since Kitakami itself is only accessible through that expansion. Players without the DLC won't be able to take part in this particular event at all.
For those who do have access, both Feebas and White Stripe Basculin are guaranteed to appear through daily Mass Outbreaks running up until August 6.
Feebas is more likely to carry the Prideful Mark during this window, while White Stripe Basculin leans toward the Ferocious Mark, though this boost only applies to the event-specific Mass Outbreaks that refresh each day.
Players looking to maximize their odds may also use Sandwiches that increase Mark chances, stacking them with shiny odds boosts for an even better shot at landing a rare catch.
If players run out of time before August 6 but still want to keep hunting, avoiding an online connection after that date can effectively extend the event further.
What Event Is Taking Place Now on 'Pokémon S&V'?
This Basculin and Feebas event is part of a broader wave of Summer 2026 activity for "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet," even as the games sit mostly in maintenance mode with attention shifting toward "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" and "Pokémon Champions."
Alongside the Kitakami event, a 7-Star Tera Raid centered on Magikarp the Unrivaled is also live, letting players farm rare materials while chasing a Magikarp that always carries the exclusive Mightiest Mark, unobtainable through any other method.
Separate Mass Outbreaks are also boosting Mark odds for Dondozo, Tatsugiri, and Veluza from the base game.
Once caught, Feebas needs to be traded to evolve into Milotic, while Basculegion requires enduring 294 points of recoil damage without fainting before it can evolve and level up.
Both final forms hold real competitive value too, with Basculegion ranking among the strongest picks in "Pokémon Champions," and Milotic remaining a reliable answer to Intimidate-based threats like Incineroar thanks to its Competitive ability.
