Plans to turn Edinburgh Grassmarket street food takeaway into new pizza joint

An Edinburgh city centre street food takeaway could be turned into a pizza joint after plans were submitted to the council.

Whats 2 Eat, within the busy Grassmarket area, have applied for a change of use and could soon specialise in takeaway pizzas, with the current owner, Ali Quser, behind the plans.

The small retail unit, located next to Piccolo Bistro and Porteous Pend venal, specialises in Halal street food as well as burgers, wraps and rice boxes. Customers can order via the site for both takeaway delivery service.

Plans submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council's planning committee state that no other alterations will take place within the unit and if given the green light, Whats 2 Eat would specialise in pizza.

It is not mentioned in the plans whether or not the takeaway would change its name. The popular Grassmarket area is awash with restaurant and bars, namely Cold Town House, The Beehive Inn and Mamma's Pizzeria.
