Plans formally submitted to build new homes on Wishaw Main Street site

Plans to rid Wishaw of a decade-long eyesore have been submitted to the council.

Trust HA, took over the running of Wishaw and District Housing Association last year, have formally submitted proposals for 42 affordable homes on land to the east of Wishaw’s Commercial Hotel.

The Main Street build will see new homes split across two separate blocks with an interior L-plan build reached via a new access road from Dryburgh Road. Incorporating 63 parking spaces, cycle bays and shared amenity space the flats will be finished in facing brick incorporating spaces for nesting birds high in the gable elevations.

Speaking to the Wishaw Press last month, Rhona McLeod, Trust’s CEO, said: “Everyone is really keen to get the Main Street planning application submitted as soon as possible.

“We know that it is an area that is essential for the redevelopment of the town.

“We are also keen at developing possible other sites in North Lanarkshire so it’s important to have a good partnership with the council and I think that’s what we have.”
