Plans for significant changes at KFC in Bulwell

Major changes could be made to the appearance of a city branch of KFC.

The application, submitted on December 22, is for the installation of a new entrance door and a raft of visual improvements at the restaurant at Springfield Retail Park on Hucknall Lane, Bulwell.

It is understood that the restaurant is currently closed for internal refurbishment.

Under the new proposals a new access door would be fitted as well as new cladding, which would have a sign showing delivery drivers where to go to collect food.

The fast food franchise would also be redecorating the shop front with an illuminated "Hello Bulwell" sign and new vinyl images of Colonel Sanders and chickens.

A set of cleaning measures would also be undertaken, with the cleaning and respraying of the shopfront's brickwork and lighting fittings.

According to the planning documents, no changes would be made to the inside of the building.

In January, KFC revealed ten Nottinghamshire locations which had been earmarked for potential new restaurants or Drive-Thrus.

Locations included were Castle Marina and the Broad Marsh in the city, along with other sites in Arnold, Netherfield and Hucknall.

A KFC Spokesperson said: “Fear not people of Bulwell, the wait is almost over. We like to show our restaurants some TLC and our Hucknall Lane roost is no exception - we’ll be back with a bang in February!”

The application is currently pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
