Plans for new city centre wine bar and restaurant given green light

Plans have been approved for a new wine bar and restaurant in Glasgow's city centre.

Glasgow City Council has given the green light to an application which will see the basement of Abbey House at 12 Bothwell Street converted into the eatery.

The building was previously used as a gym with offices.

Standard Real Estate Ltd, which submitted the application, has also been given permission to erect a flue to the rear of the property.

Conditions attached to the planning permission restrict opening hours to between 8am and 1am from Monday to Sunday “to protect local residents from exposure to noise and disturbance at unsocial hours”.

Plans show a public seating area and a private dining room in the venue.

The council’s decision stated the “proposal was considered to be in accordance with the development plan” and there were “no material considerations” which outweighed this.
