Plans approved to build 250 homes in Nottinghamshire village

A new project is set to bring hundreds of homes to a Nottinghamshire village for the existing and new community.

Outline planning permission has been granted for 250 homes in Awsworth, with developers promising a "greater housing choice in the area while delivering new amenity spaces".

Pegasus Group consultants have secured planning permission to build on the land at Newtons Lane on behalf of Harworth Group PLC.

It is after a meeting with Broxtowe Borough Council that took place last night, on Wednesday (June 2).

Guy Longley, executive director at Pegasus Group’s East Midlands office, said: “We are pleased that the planning committee followed the advice of officers and granted outline permission for the proposed development.

“Considerable stakeholder and community engagement work was carried out both through the promotion of the site through the Local Plan process and the subsequent planning application.”

Joanne Neville, planning manager at Harworth Group, said: “We are pleased to receive this positive outcome from Broxtowe’s Planning Committee.

"Our application is the culmination of several years of planning promotion and technical due diligence throughout the preparation of the local plan and the submission of the planning application.

“We now intend to market the site to housebuilders, once the S106 is completed, so that this well-connected site can start to deliver housing for the borough of Broxtowe.”
