An office building is set to be transformed into a community centre and a place of worship after councillors voted to give the plans the go-ahead.
Community Church were given permission by North Tyneside Council to change the use of Planet House, in Killingworth, from an office and computer repair workshop to a hub.
The church has around 60 members and they currently meet each Sunday at Bailey Green Primary School in Killingworth.
Further church activities take place at the homes of church members, community centres and other local church buildings from Monday to Saturday.
A council report says the church is extensively involved in local community activities, as well as providing church activities for its members.
Over the years it has provided children's clubs and youth clubs, set up toy libraries and baby equipment loan services, mother and toddler groups, set up community fun days and a variety of other events.
They have also provided a debt counselling service, lead assemblies in local schools, work with charities in Newcastle which assist homeless persons, and refugees and asylum seekers and hold regular services in a local residential care home.
The church say that having the use of the building will help it to grow its work in the community.
Members of North Tyneside Council's planning committee voted to grant the application on Tuesday.
