A plane was forced to do a U-turn over the Atlantic Ocean and divert to Shannon Airport on Saturday morning.
The UPS cargo jet, heading for the US from East Midlands in the UK, is reported to have made the diversion after crew reported a mechanical problem onboard.
The Boeing jet's three crew members are then understood to have requested permission from the Irish Aviation Authority’s North Atlantic Communications Centre at Ballygirreen to stop at the Co Clare transport hub.
It had taken off at 5.20am on its way to Philadelphia on the east coast of America, Clare FM reports.
The plane landed just after 9:30am and was met by engineers at the main terminal building in Shannon.

It is believed crew reported some "mechanical issues" with the aircraft's hydraulic controls system.
