PJ O'Rourke on boomers, and reading the recession – books podcast

Are baby boomers to blame for the economic slump of the last few years – and is it true that things are finally looking up? We look for answers on both sides of the Atlantic.

PJ O'Rourke, the most quoted living person in the Penguin Dictionary of Modern Humorous Quotations, gives us his own unique impression of the view from the US, as outlined in his latest book, The Baby Boom: How It Got That Way (And It Wasn't My Fault).

Back in the UK, the journalist Tom Clark investigates whether times are still as hard here, as the title of his new book suggests. He explores the sometimes-surprising social fall-out of the recession, explains why the much-trumpeted recovery has passed so many people by, and takes us through the recent literature of boom and bust.
