Piers Morgan nearly had a nightmare return to work after he threw his Good Morning Britain comeback into chaos.
After being absent from the ITV breakfast show since mid-July, Piers and co-host Susanna Reid were due back on GMB early on Tuesday but, viewers tuning in at the crack of dawn to see them were left disappointed.
The show always gets going at 6am but both Piers and Susanna were missing in action as cameras rolled, with their colleague Charlotte Hawkins appearing on screen to explain that their return would be slightly later than intended.
The former Strictly contestant explained to people watching at home that the presenting pair would be joining her from 6:30am, with some viewers voicing disappointment as they had tuned in especially for Piers' return.
Charlotte also revealed Piers had arrived late as Susanna was ready to go but Piers had not even got to the studio three minutes before cameras were set to roll.
Disappointed fans, who tuned in at 6am expecting to see Piers, were quick to react on Twitter, with one sarcastically posting: "Are you running late on your 1st day back @piersmorgan well done 4 being on time," and another, taking inspiration from a famous Bearles song, tweeting: "I was an early bird this morning even though I have a day off to wish you welcome back! But you're late arriving. Get back Get back Get back to where you once belonged."
