Piers Morgan teases new role that is 'bigger than Good Morning Britain'

Piers Morgan is expected to announce his latest role shortly, six months after leaving Good Morning Britain.

The presenter and ex-newspaper editor said the new job would be 'a lot bigger than GMB'.

And he suggested he could be auditioning for new TV 'wives' - a reference to his former GMB co-host Susanna Reid, who he dubbed his TV wife.

UPDATE Piers Morgan has just tweeted: "I’ve gone home. Great to be rejoining Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation after 28 years. The place I started my media career, with the boss who gave me my first big break. We’re going to have a lot of fun…." MORE HERE

Morgan has been teasing a big announcement with comments to the Press and a cryptic post on his twitter page.

This morning (Thursday, September 16) the 56-year-old had a gif of a pendulum clock with the words TICK-TOCK.

He told The Sun when asked about his new role: "Have patience, it won't be long. It's a lot bigger than GMB."

He added: "It's not fighting talk, it's just a lot bigger. You'll see soon."

Piers famously stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain in March in the wake of Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier in the year, in which various claims about the Royal Family were made.

It followed a verbal clash with Bristol's Alex Beresford, the weather presenter who occasional stands in as one of the main anchors on the ITV show.

Morgan's comments sparked thousands of complaints to TV watchdog Ofcom but Morgan was cleared.
