Piers Morgan has branded his TV rival Dan Walker "Halo Boy" in a vicious Twitter feud over an onscreen blunder.
BBC Breakfast host Dan, 43, was forced to apologise yesterday after Love Island star Josh Denzel seemingly dropped the F-bomb on live TV during an episode of Football Focus.
Josh said: "The thing is, yeah, my housemate John is a massive Palace fan. He rowed f****** five marathons in five days on the rowing machine."
Dan then apologised on Twitter, and said the team were investigating to see if Josh really did swear but he later returned to insist the reality star didn't actually use the F-word.
He wrote: "We’ve investigated and @Josh_Denzel1 didn’t swear on #FootballFocus today. It was the combination of trying to say: Five marathons, In, For Calmzone (which is the charity) & a dodgy zoom line.
"Sorry if you had to have a surprising conversation with your children."
However, Good Morning Britain host Piers, 55, didn't believe him - and tweeted: "Stop digging that hole, Inspector Walker - we all heard what he said."
Dan then replied: "What a surprise... I thought you’d be along," and Piers responded with a savage dig, tweeting back: "Did Dominic Cummings lead the investigation?"]
Piers went on: "Now now, children.. But just to clarify, Inspector Walker, you apologised because you thought your guest said 'f***ing' (which he did) but have now withdrawn the apology because he told you he stumbled over 'Five marathon', 'In', & 'For Calmzone' & it was a dodgy zoom line?"
One of the former newsman's followers then pointed out that Piers had also had to deal with his fair share of guests swearing on TV, including hairdresser Adee Phelan in a recent interview.
They wrote: "You let your hairdresser mate say s**t twice live on air and refused to apologise on both counts so wind your neck in d**khead."
Piers then replied with an unflattering nickname for Dan, writing: "Can you please stop swearing Anthony, it upsets Halo Boy @mrdanwalker."
