Piers Morgan's wife Celia Walden devastated as thieves steal special anniversary gift

Journalist Celia Walden was left devastated when thieves stole her special anniversary gift from husband Piers Morgan.

The pair were burgled in the villa where they were holidaying in Côte d’Azur in the South of France.

Writing for The Telegraph, 44-year-old Celia revealed just how much it hurt to realise a much treasured item had been taken from her.

Celia writes: "The jewellery part did sting. It still stings now, almost a week on."

Despite trying to convince herself that they are only material objects, Celia describes how they are also "memories that have been trampled over."

She lists the objects taken, noting: "The art deco ring my husband had bought me for our fifth wedding anniversary; the vintage Pucci cuff I’d picked up a flea market in LA; those earrings I’d bought from Alfies Antique Market on the Edgware Road when my first book advance came through: every last piece I had with me was gone, none of it of great value, all of it irreplaceable."

An investigation by police saw them convinced that the couple had been targeted by a gang of thieves who prey on holidaymakers in the area.

Despite the loss of some much-treasured keepsakes, Celia feels that they all "got off lightly", considering much more could have been taken and worse could have occured.

She concludes by sayng that she "will never feel guilty for pressing that snooze button again."

The family had been planning on staying in France for the rest of the summer.

However, the change in quarantine rules between the UK and France prompted them to make a swift return.
