Piers Morgan reveals why Arsenal won't miss Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey

Piers Morgan does not believe Arsenal will miss Aaron Ramsey "anything like" as much as feared when the midfielder departs for Juventus .

Ramsey has signed a lucrative deal to join the Italian champions in the summer, bringing an end to his 11-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.

In that time he has scored 62 goals in more than 350 appearances in all competitions, and will leave the Gunners as a three-time FA Cup winner - having netted decisively in two of those finals.

He has played 35 times this season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists, but Morgan - who has had run-ins with the 28-year-old in the past - does not believe his exit will have much of an impact on the fortunes of Unai Emery's side.

Sol Campbell opens up on tough introduction to management at Macclesfield

“Aaron Ramsey reminds me of Olivier Giroud – they’re both very good footballers, but honestly we haven’t missed Giroud at all since he left and I don’t think we’re going to miss Ramsey anything like the way people keep going on about it,” he told Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast .

“The truth is, Ramsey for the last few years has been a perfectly good player in the team, but under Emery he hasn’t started that many games.

“Recently he’s started playing well because he’s got his big deal and good luck to him. He’s been a good servant to the team.

“But Ramsey has been part of the least successful Arsenal team over a decade-long period that we’ve probably ever had.

“So let’s get things in perspective.

“We need world class players to come in. I think we’ve got some in the team.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are beginning to show that they’re pretty formidable as a forward duo, Mesut Ozil is world class when he fancies it but doesn’t fancy it enough, and I think we’re seeing some of the other come through as well.

“But honestly, does the future of Arsenal depend on Ramsey? I don’t see it.

“Some Arsenal fans may disagree with me, but I just don’t.”
