Piers Morgan responds to GMB backlash as fans complain over 'forgotten' celebration

Good Morning Britain viewers fumed at the show and hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan on Thursday morning.

They claimed they'd "forgotten' a key British celebration, with it being St. George's Day.

Throughout the show, Piers and Susanna hosted segments on the updated news of cases and testing in regards to the coronavirus pandemic.

The hosts also spoke with Captain Tom Moore about his amazing Pride of Britain awards win live on air in sweet scenes.

But not everyone was happy with the content, with many calling the show out for "forgetting" to mention what day it was.

The COVID-19 lockdown has led to many losing a routine and forgetting what day of the week it is.

Piers had noticed people were complaining about the lack of mention and recognition of St. George's Day, and responded.

Highlighting the comments to co-host Susanna, he explained why they hadn't mentioned it.

"We've had a few people tweeting, 'why haven't you said it?' I just said it. Happy St. George's Day."

He added: "You just forget about all this other stuff, we would have probably been doing something on it but anyway, there you go."

Susanna also had her say, commenting: "Well it's hard to remember what day it is frankly, isn't it."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
