Piers Morgan left a 'gibbering wreck' by illness and forced to pull out of TV show

Piers Morgan has been forced to pull out of presenting his Talk TV show, Uncensored, after falling ill.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 58, took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal that he has fallen ill with food poisoning after eating a selection of 'dodgy sushi' in recent days.

The TV star admitted that while presenting the show on Monday night, he felt violently ill but mustered through it, but explained that the reason he may have looked 'queasy' was down to the food poisoning.

Piers went on to reveal that his Talk TV colleagues Harry Cole and Kate McCann will be covering for him as he recovers from his sickness.

Taking to Twitter, Piers shared: "UPDATE: Some dodgy sushi has rendered me a puking gibbering wreck (which is why I looked so queasy on air last night) so I won’t be hosting @PiersUncensored tonight.

"My colleagues @MrHarryCole & @KateEMcCann are kindly stepping into the hot seat."

Following Piers' admission, fans flocked to wish the presenter a speedy recovery.

"Nothing worse than food poisoning. Hope you feel better soon," one replied.

"Sushi is the devil. Get better soon," another echoed.

While someone else quipped: "Let's hope it's only tempura-ry and, alas, you'll rice and shine to host again tomorrow."

It comes after Piers lost his Twitter blue tick, as Elon Musk's social media site culls 'legacy' blue ticks, which verify stars' identities.

The outspoken TV presenter and columnist, 58, who has more than 8m followers on Twitter, is among the high-profile users who have lost their blue ticks, including Prince William and Princess Kate as well as Kim Kardashian.

However, some stars, such as This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Piers' former Good Morning Britain co-host, Susanna Reid, have blue ticks next to their name.

Surprisingly Piers is yet to comment on the removal of the coveted blue tick on his profile.

The Twitter Verified account tweeted that legacy verified marks would be removed from the site on April 20, with the main way of getting a blue tick now being to sign up for Twitter Blue, with an £8 monthly fee for those based in the UK.

Not all those who have kept their verification marks have paid for Blue, however, as some legacy accounts seemed to retain their ticks if linked to a verified organisation, including Barack Obama's personal page.

The Verified Organisations feature enables bodies of 'all types', including businesses, non-profit groups and government institutions, to sign up and manage their verification and to affiliate and verify any related account.

Both Holly and Susanna's Twitter accounts say they are verified because "they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number."

Famous users with large followings such as Beyonce, JK Rowling, Lady Gaga and Jay-Z have also lost their blue ticks.
