Piers Morgan blocks Bev Turner for 'pathetic' reason to not clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore

Piers Morgan has branded Bev Turner as being 'pathetic' for refusing to join the national clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore.

The 100-year-old veteran, who captured the hearts of the nation with his NHS fundraising, died in Bedford Hospital on Tuesday morning after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Prime Minister then encouraged members of the public to clap at 6pm on Wednesday to honour his life.

While the TV and radio presenter from Prestwich acknowledged Captain Moore's 'brilliant' fundraising efforts, Bev told her followers that she won't be clapping to "maintain the fear that imminent death is all around".

The 47-year-old added: "And we're all in this together. We're not."

Piers quote retweeted Bev's comments with: "This is so pathetic".

Bev later announced that she'd been blocked by the Good Morning Britain host.

She said: "I don't think he liked the fact that it seems - by many of your reactions- that I wasn't completely wrong... And he does not like to be wrong. Maybe he's manipulating you all too?Just a thought...."

Bev then later retweeted one of her followers, who said: "Totally agreed with you Beverley and its not Pathetic, it's what a lot of people are thinking including me but are too scared to post it because of fear of backlash like this.

"Sir Tom was great and brought the country together but the clapping when over 100,000 have died! Well!"

Last night Piers said there was "lots of clapping" where he lives in West London in remembrance of the veteran.

He added: "Great to hear. Thanks for everything, Captain Tom".
