Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg makes claim about Jordan Henderson's England omission

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted Jordan Henderson's absence from the England starting XI throughout Euro 2020 shows just how strong Gareth Southgate's squad is ahead of their Euro 2020 semi-final clash with Denmark.

Having undergone groin surgery back in February, the Liverpool captain only return from injury for the Three Lions' final warm-up game with Romania and has been limited to three substitute appearances at the tournament so far as he continues to feel his way back.

The midfielder managed to score his first international goal when coming off the bench in England's 4-0 quarter-final victory over Ukraine on Saturday, yet faces stern competition from Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice to break into Gareth Southgate's starting midfield.

And Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg used Henderson as an example when sharing his thoughts on the England squad ahead of Wednesday's final four clash at Wembley.

"England's squad is fantastic. Their midfield as well and the guys that also aren't playing from the start," he told reporters. "When you are able to bring on a Jordan Henderson, I think it is a big stamp of quality.

"We, Denmark, will try our best to do what it takes to bring the victory on our side but we also know the strengths of England. We have great respect for them and are ready to give them a big, big fight."
