Pictures show severe damage caused by fire in Weston-super-Mare

While many were making the most of an extra day off, Weston-super-Mare firefighters were hard at work during what became a very busy Bank Holiday Monday yesterday, (May 6).

Their first job took them to Weston General Hospital at around 11am where they had to assist with the removal of a ring from the hand of a man in his 50s.

A shed fire which had become out of control then meant two crews had to race to Lime Close at around 3pm to tackle the blaze.

By the time they had arrived the flames had ripped through three garden sheds and were also affecting another shed, a building and a conservatory.

The Avon Fire and Rescue team on hand stayed a while after they had extinguished the fire to make sure residents and their neighbours were safe.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
