It's been a favourite with Notts holiday makers for generations but now Skegness could get a revamp.
And the new look might only be five years in the making.
From the restoration of Skegness pier to a brand new college, the popular seaside town will begin to take back its historical roots while modernising for the younger generation, reported Lincolnshire Live.
The pictures below show just how Skegness could look thanks, in part, to the Towns Fund which will invest millions of pounds into Skegness and Mablethorpe.
The Connected Coast board, which decides where the funding will be allocated, has plans to build a new college, develop the train station and upgrade the high street shop fronts.
Chris Baron, Connected Coast chairman, said: "We're very close to getting full business cases for the new college, which will be the first we'd have a full-scale education campus in Skegness, which is going to be great because it takes away that barrier between education for people on the coast. It's usually an hour journey each way to get to Boston or Grimsby."
Construction on the college is due to start in January 2023 and will be completed by July 2024 ready to be operational for the new school year.
It will be located adjacent to the south side of the A52 Wainfleet Road and images show what it could look like.
Mr Baron also said the area surrounding the train station would be modernised.
He added: "The railway project for the railway station will hopefully be towards the end of this year, so there's a big upgrade going on there."
A scheme to upgrade shopfronts in Skegness is already being taken advantage of and could see a modernised high street.
"It's to get people to upgrade their shop front and reinstate some of the character back into Lumley Road, so hopefully you'll see some of those changing this year," Mr Baron said.
The Skegness foreshore will also be developed with investment into the green, culture, heritage, arts, sports and leisure market
It will develop the existing structures around the Southern Boating Lake will create an outdoor events arena for activities such as concerts, light festivals and outdoor cinema.
Although there is no exact finish date for Skegness pier, in five years it could be well on the way to being restored to its original 582m.
With projects planned ahead for the Towns Fund, Skegness may look very different in five years time.
